Traditional, Shipibo Ayahuasca Ceremonies in the US
Our Ayahuasca Retreats
We offer 1 to 3-day weekend retreats (Friday to Sunday), typically with around 10 to 15 participants. We are also open to organizing smaller private ceremonies and retreats as well.
Our ceremonies are led by ethical and experienced visiting Shipibo Maestras/Maestros from the Peruvian Amazon or Shipibo trained ceremonialists with a minimum of 10+ years of experience. Please inquire to learn more about the practitioner leading the retreat you wish to attend.
About Shipibo Ayahuasca Ceremonies
Ceremonies are held at night, in the traditional Shipibo ceremonial format. We begin after dark, usually around 8 or 9pm, with participants seated around the periphery of the ceremonial space. After each participant has taken the ceremonial brew, there is around 30 minutes of silent meditation before the traditional chanting of Shipibo-language Ikaros begins.
The ceremonialist and their chants play a variety of roles throughout the night, including:
Opening the ceremony and effects of the medicine
Chanting Ikaros for energetic protection of the space
Bringing master plant energies into the ceremony
Guiding individuals through their journey
Chanting for mental, emotional, and physical cleansing and release
Closing the ceremony and helping participants to come down from the effects of the medicine
The depth, precision and power of Shipibo ceremonial medicine work, is uniquely profound and extremely advanced. The technique of Shipibo ceremony is an “ancestral technology” that is revered in the Amazon and throughout the world, and not to be underestimated. Learn more about the Shipibo approach to Ayahuasca ceremony here.
We offer sharing and group integration circles in the mornings after nights of ceremony. We have found this practice to be an extremely useful integration practice, while the ceremonial experience is still very fresh in the mind/body of the participant.
We also of traditional Shipibo treatments of plant vapor baths when requested / possible depending on the limitations of the venue.
